1. About us

This website is run by:

King of Corals EdinburghEmail: [email protected]

These terms apply to every order placed through this website. They don't affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

2. Placing an order

When you place an order, we reserve the frags in your basket and send you an order reference. Your order is an offer to buy. A contract between us is formed when we confirm your order and take payment.

We may decline an order, for example if a frag is no longer healthy enough to sell or a price was shown in error. If we do, we'll tell you and refund anything you've paid.

3. Prices and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling and are per frag. Next-day tracked shipping is currently £14.95 per order. Collection is free. The delivery cost is shown at checkout before you place your order.

You can pay by:

  • Direct transfer (BACS): please pay on the same day you order, using the bank details shown after checkout, and add your order reference as the payment reference so we can match your payment.
  • Cash on collection, for orders you collect in Edinburgh.
  • Card, through our payment provider SumUp, straight after placing your order.

Your frags are reserved while we wait for payment. If payment doesn't arrive, we may cancel the order and release the frags. Competition tickets are paid by card only (see the competition rules).

4. Photos and descriptions

Frags marked WYSIWYG ("what you see is what you get") are the exact piece photographed. Grow-out frags are cut from the same colony as the photo and will look very similar, but aren't the pictured piece.

Our photos are taken under blue aquarium lighting. Coral colour changes with lighting, water and time, so it may look different in your tank.

5. Shipping

  • We ship anywhere in the UK by next-day tracked delivery. We can't ship to the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands or outside the UK.
  • We dispatch Monday to Wednesday, so parcels don't sit in a depot over a weekend.
  • Someone must be at the address to receive the parcel. Live coral can't be left with a neighbour or in a safe place.
  • If a courier delay or bad weather means we can't send your order safely, we'll contact you to choose another day.

6. Collection

Collection in Edinburgh is free, by appointment on Fridays and Saturdays. We'll email the address and a time slot, and hold your frags until your appointment. If you can't make it, let us know and we'll rearrange. Bring an insulated bag or cool box.

Your order becomes your responsibility once it's delivered to you or collected.

7. Looking after your coral

Coral is a living animal. Please acclimate it as soon as you receive it, as described in our care guide. Once it's in your aquarium, its health depends on conditions we can't see or control.

8. Cancelling your order

You can cancel at any time before your order is dispatched or collected, and we'll refund you in full.

Live coral can deteriorate quickly, so the 14-day cancellation period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 doesn't apply once it has been delivered or collected (regulation 28(1)(b)). This doesn't affect your rights if something is wrong with your order.

9. If something is wrong

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, what we sell must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If there's a problem with your order, email [email protected] as soon as possible after you receive it, with photos, and we'll put it right as the law requires.

10. Our responsibility to you

We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that's a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We aren't responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for business losses. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

11. Your information

We use your details only as set out in our privacy policy.

12. Law

These terms are governed by Scots law. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live.

13. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you place your order is the one that applies to it.
